Helpful Tips
Download the MET Transit app to buy day passes and track buses in real time
Use the downtown transfer center as your hub to switch between all MET routes
Uber and Lyft both operate here if buses stop running after evening events
Airport shuttle vans pick up outside baggage claim and cost less than taxis to downtown hotels
Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed drivers at the curb may claim the shuttle is delayed and offer a "flat rate" ride to downtown that ends up costing more than a regulated taxi. Verify any driver has an airport permit displayed and insist on using the meter or pre-book through the official taxi queue inside baggage claim.
Rogue parking-lot attendants have been reported at off-airport lots who collect cash for "full-service" parking but never log the vehicle, leaving travelers to find their car towed or additional fees demanded on return. Pay only at staffed booths with printed receipts and photograph your stall number and license plate.
Some local car-rental counters add an "airport concession fee recovery" surcharge that is already included in the base rate quoted online. Compare your reservation print-out to the contract before signing and ask for removal of any duplicate charges.
